Pine Cone Bird Feeder
I love it when the children come up with project ideas on their own. It’s amazing to see their creativity at work. We have been collecting pinecones for some Christmas decorating ideas and my oldest suggested that we make a Pine Cone Bird Feeder. She knew exactly what she wanted to do, I just needed to gather the supplies. I just love how our Pine Cone Bird Feeder turned out.
Isn’t this Pine Cone Bird Feeder Wonderful? I hope our wild birds enjoy their treat!
If you would like to make a Pine Cone Bird Feeder they are very simple, the children can do most of it. We purchased some bird seed, the pinecones were free, and I had peanut butter and twine on hand!
Start by cutting your twine into a piece that is 6″ long. Fold the twine in half and place both ends together. Using hot glue on the base of your pine cone, glue the ends of the twine to the pine cone. I did this ahead of time because I didn’t want the children using the glue gun. The rest of the project was completed by them.
**Wundergirl also mentioned that if you were able, you could tie ribbon or string to the tip of the pine cone instead of gluing them. This would eliminate the need for the glue gun. We went ahead and glued them as there was no place to tie the ribbon on our pine cones.
